The chocolate:

This chocolate was awarded the Silver Medal by the Academy of Chocolate in 2017. Known for its unique nature with Asian and Australian influences, Sulawesi is home to a rich variety of premium cocoa.

The cacao grown in West Sulawesi is a true gift from the wild. It thrives along green hills and tangled waterways. The village of Saludengen comes back to life after the monsoon. The soil that nourishes the island's lush cacao trees exudes a refreshing coolness.

The aroma of this chocolate takes you on a journey of the senses, with notes of black tea, cedar and hops. Immerse yourself in this unique composition and let yourself be enchanted by the taste experiences of Sulawesi.

Krakakoa

KRAKAKOA was founded with the goal of ensuring that cocoa farmers in Indonesia are adequately compensated for their hard work. Its mission is to protect the environment and at the same time sustainably promote Indonesia's economic development. For this reason, KRAKAKOA only sources fine, organic cocoa beans from small farmers. This is how their chocolate conveys the finest Indonesian flavors. Appropriately, its name is inspired by the volcanic island that once lay in the waters of the Sunda Strait. Chocolate with pride from Indonesia!

Indonesia

The island state of Indonesia is currently the third largest cocoa producer in the world. No wonder, with a cocoa cultivation area of around 1.5 million hectares! Unfortunately, the approximately 350,000 tons of exported Indonesian cocoa are often ordinary consumer cocoa, which is mainly cultivated on the island of Sumatra. A lesser known cocoa origin is Bali. High-quality fine flavor cocoa is now also grown there. Cocoa yields in Indonesia are currently declining due to aging cocoa plants and the lack of cocoa-growing-friendly laws and regulations. However, we remain optimistic about the region, which offers perfect growing conditions for fine flavor cocoa. Because with good instructions on sustainable cocoa cultivation and targeted support for cocoa farmers, harvest yields could be increased, especially those from delicious fine flavor cocoa.
