Chocolate Tree

Alastair and Friederike Grower from Chocolate Tree have set themselves the goal of producing the finest chocolates in Scotland under the highest social and ecological standards. In their Scottish factory, the Chocolate Tree team does every step themselves: from the bean to the delicious bar, they mainly produce bean-to-bar chocolate. They obtain most of their cocoa beans from Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Madagascar, where they have direct relationships with the cocoa farmers.

Belize – according to some cocoa experts, the “cradle of chocolate”. The country has a long history of cocoa production. Even before the beginning of our era, cocoa was a popular drink among the Maya who lived there. And even today, for many farming families in Belize, the cocoa drink is an integral part of their diet. Cocoa beans from Belize come from the plantations of around 1,300 smallholder families, where many farmers now rely on sustainable cultivation. There are also more and more agroforestry projects in which the cocoa is allowed to grow in the midst of many other plants. This not only offers advantages for the cocoa plants, but also different sources of income for the cocoa farmers. We are passionate about the aromatic cocoa beans from the South American country that is aware of its roots while demonstrating openness to eco-friendly farming practices!
