The chocolate:

The fact that Original Beans has now replaced other manufacturers as the standard for many star chefs speaks for itself. This bar was made with Trinitario cocoa beans from Tanzania and added cocoa nibs. The cocoa beans for these bars are grown in villages on the edge of Udzungwa Mountain National Park in Tanzania. The park serves as a refuge for elephants, which are also depicted on the board's packaging. It comes with notes of orange, toffee but also tropical fruits and floral notes. The added cocoa nibs provide a great crunch and add a subtle earthy note to the fruity, delicately melting bar. What cacao nibs are and are they really that healthy ? Find out here!

Original Beans

The company plants a tree for every Original Beans chocolate sold. Philipp Kaufmann is not only the founder of Original Beans, but also a passionate WWF conservationist. He and his team have set themselves the goal of reviving resources – which are quickly destroyed in the chocolate mass market – with their products. Their love of chocolate has led Original Beans to protect endangered species, preserve natural habitats, significantly increase farmers' incomes and - last but not least - produce climate-friendly chocolate. The focus at Original Beans is therefore also on making their supply chain as climate-friendly as possible.

Tanzania

Tanzania is a growing region in transition. First introduced by colonialists in the 1880s, cocoa was cultivated specifically for export almost 100 years later. Initially, the focus was on quantity in order to be able to keep up with other African countries of origin. International raw materials companies were the largest buyers and the price war intensified. Over time, West Africa prevailed: Ghana and Ivory Coast are now the world's largest cocoa exporters: while Tanzania exports just 6.5 tons annually, Ivory Coast is clearly at the top with 2.2 million tons. Tanzania made a virtue out of necessity: for several years now, Tanzania has been relying on the cultivation of sustainable fine cocoa. This change will primarily benefit farmers as they will receive fairer prices for their hard work.
